The Headless Rider<\/strong> is an optional boss<\/strong> encounter in Death Stranding 2<\/em> that appears after you\u2019ve unlocks after you\u2019ve found the Chronobiologist<\/strong> on the main story. This bunker will encourage you to travel to the Ghost Hunter<\/strong> where you\u2019ll learn more about BTs<\/strong> and get a quest to find the Headless Rider<\/strong>. The Headless Rider only appears under very specific circumstances, so this is what you\u2019ll need to do. <\/p>\n

There are lots of optional bosses in Death Stranding 2<\/em> \u2014 including giant, bizarre BTs<\/strong> that drop giant piles of Chiral Crystals if you\u2019re willing to face them. The Headless Rider<\/strong> is a completely different type of beast and leads to one of the most unique boss fights in the game. You won\u2019t want to miss this wild encounter. You\u2019ll even earn a big reward from the Ghost Hunter for getting this job done. <\/p>\n

How To Find the Headless Riders<\/h2>\n

The Headless Rider<\/strong> appears after linking East Fort Knot<\/strong> to the Chiral Network and continuing the story \u2014 you\u2019ll be able to access this encounter after linking to the Chronobiologist<\/strong> in the snowy mountains. This begins a long trek through the mountains in a long episode that\u2019s especially difficult because vehicles don\u2019t have enough traction to climb the mountains. <\/p>\n

After meeting the Chronobiologist<\/strong> \u2014 take their sub order<\/strong> to find the Ghost Hunter<\/strong>. The order will take you directly to their bunker, at the base of the mountain near a large BT area. The Ghost Hunter has unique insights into paranormal events. They\u2019ll only join the Chiral Network if you complete the \u201cHeadless Rider\u201d order<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

  • At the Ghost Hunter<\/strong>, take the Sub Order \u201c[Elimination] Discover the identity of the Headless Riders and Remove the Threat<\/strong>\u201d to begin the hunt. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The objective tasks you with going to a stretch of road to the east and discovering the Headless Rider. The riders will only appear if you fulfill a very specific requirement<\/strong>. Go to the location with a Tri-Cruiser<\/strong>. You may find more near the road, but if you don\u2019t, go to another bunker and fabricate one. A Tri-Cruiser is required for this order.<\/p>\n

      \n
    • Go to the location marked by the Ghost Hunter\u2019s Sub Order<\/strong> \u2014 there will be a section of road already built near the river. <\/li>\n
    • Drive on this section of road with a Tri-Cruiser<\/strong> at night<\/strong>. You must be riding a tri-cruiser and it must be at night. <\/li>\n
    • Drive on this road until you reach the auto-paver<\/strong> on the east side. If you\u2019ve fulfilled all requirements the encounter will begin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      If you\u2019re driving a tri-cruiser at night and reach the auto-paver<\/strong>, the auto-paver will glow red and construct a road in the sky, moving Sam (and your Tri-Cruiser) into the air where Ghost Mech motorcycles attack. This begins the encounter, and you\u2019ll want to be prepared. <\/p>\n

      How To Beat The Headless Riders<\/h2>\n

      The Headless Riders<\/strong> encounters is on a floating highway \u2014 you\u2019ll need to drive and avoid attacks from Ghost Mech motorcycles with powerful blade weapons and machine guns. <\/p>\n

        \n
      • Before The Fight<\/strong>: Bring Shotguns<\/strong> and Machine Guns<\/strong> into this encounter. The more attacks you can successfully land, the better here. Your goal isn\u2019t to be accurate. You need to deliver as much damage as possible \u2014 but you\u2019ll need enough ammo to keep fighting.<\/li>\n
      • Equip x4 Blood Bags<\/strong> because you will inevitably sustain a lot of damage in this fight. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Keep driving and press [D-Pad: Right<\/strong>] to equip your gun, then hold [R1<\/strong>] to shoot. You will automatically lock-on to nearby enemies once you move your cursor over them. More motorcycle mechs will appear as you go, leading to a big encounter against a more powerful central Headless Rider mech.<\/p>\n

        • Defeat the Headless Rider<\/strong> that\u2019s glowing blue<\/strong> to complete the encounter and escape. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          For completing this order, you\u2019ll add the Ghost Hunter<\/strong> to the Chiral Network and unlock a few rewards. You\u2019ll get the Woodland Pattern<\/strong> for your Porter Suit, and the Rocket Box [MP]<\/strong> \u2014 a cargo container that serves as rocket pods<\/strong> you can launch when attached to your suit.
