Death Stranding 2<\/em> adds a tool that makes traversal to places you\u2019ve already visited so much easier \u2014 fast travel<\/strong>. Yes, there\u2019s an actual fast-travel mechanic in Hideo Kojima\u2019s tarpunk epic about walking very slowly. You\u2019re no longer forced to walk all the way back to old areas or rebuild roads to make travel easier. Even in the roughest terrain, you can simply teleport back to areas connected to the Chiral Network<\/strong> \u2014 any area on the map in the blue zone<\/strong> is in the network and available for fast-travel. After adding an area with the Q-Pid<\/strong>, you can zip around freely \u2014 but that doesn\u2019t make deliveries any easier. We\u2019ll explain fully below. <\/p>\n

How To Unlock Fast Travel<\/h2>\n

  • Fast Travel<\/strong> will permanently unlock after connecting West Fort Knot<\/strong> (Australia Region) to the Chiral Network.\n

    • This occurs during Main Order: Investigate the Unusual Tar Current Near F1<\/strong>. <\/li>\n
    • Defeat the boss here, connect the Q-Pid to the terminal and rest at the DHV Magellan to make fast-travel available. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Fast Travel unlocks deep in the main story in Chapter 3<\/strong> and can easily take 10-15 hours<\/strong> to reach depending on how many Sub Orders and Standard Orders you\u2019re completing. If you want fast travel, we recommend playing through the Main Orders<\/strong> and only doing side-quests after the start of Chapter 4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

      How Does Fast Travel Work?<\/h2>\n

      Fast Travel can be used at any time to move the DHV Magellan<\/strong> to any terminal linked to the Chiral Network. Any area in the blue zone can be travelled to \u2014 you can move the DHV Magellan both while riding it or outside to meet you at different locations. <\/p>\n

        \n
      • How To Fast Travel<\/strong>: Open the map and hold [X \/ Cross<\/strong>] to \u201cChart Course<\/strong>\u201d for the Magellan. This opens an overlay with blue markers showing where the Magellan can travel. <\/li>\n
      • Select a location to travel there. To change regions, press [L1 \/ R1<\/strong>] to cycle through the different maps.<\/li>\n
      • Board the DHV Magellan<\/strong> to ride it after issuing a command. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        After unlocking fast travel, new Standard Orders will appear in the Mexico Region. Fast travel there to unlock more useful schematics by ranking up the different bunker locations \u2014 but don\u2019t try to deliver with the Magellan. You can store items to take with you anywhere inside, but don\u2019t store delivery items in the Magellan.<\/p>\n

        Why Can\u2019t Sam Deliver with Fast Travel?<\/h2>\n

        Making deliveries with fast travel is considered cheating<\/strong> and will negatively impact your delivery score in Death Stranding 2<\/em>. Instead of earning points, the delivery will be marked with the \u201cMagellan<\/strong>\u201d tag \u2014 it is completed but only technically. <\/p>\n

        You can use the Magellan<\/strong> as a floating private inventory to keep gear for later use. Unlike Death Stranding 1<\/em> where juggling items from one base to another was a difficult slog, now it\u2019s very easy to travel to a previous location that isn\u2019t important, unload the materials or fabricate items, and save your more-often-used bases<\/strong> for later without raiding their valuable material storage. <\/p>\n

        Basically, even with the Magellan, Sam will need to physically travel<\/strong> to each delivery location. Travelling through the tar streams has a negative effect on cargo deliveries \u2014 your personal gear is fine, but anything else doesn\u2019t count. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
