Pokémon Go: Water Festival Schedule and Bonuses

It’s time to make waves as Tatsugiri splashes into Pokémon Go for the very first time during the Water Festival.

The Water Festival takes place from July 15 at 10am, to July 20, 2025, at 8pm local time. Expect a whole host of event bonuses and wild encounters, while Paid Timed Research will be on offer.

Pokémon Debuts

The Mimicry Pokémon, Tatsugiri will make its Pokémon Go debut.

  • Curly Form Tatsugiri (Europe, Middle East, Africa)
  • Droopy Form Tatsugiri (Americas)
  • Stretchy Form Tatsugiri (Asia-Pacific)

Event Bonuses

  • Rainy Lure Modules will last for two hours
  • Increased Candy for Nice Throws or better
  • Increased chance to encounter Shiny Staryu and Shiny Tirtouga
  • Lapras wearing a scarf caught from raids may have a Seasonal special background, if you’re lucky

Wild Encounters

The following Pokémon will spawn more frequently in the wild, all of which have the chance to be Shiny:

  • Squirtle
  • Slowpoke
  • Krabby
  • Staryu
  • Magikarp
  • Marill
  • Barboach
  • Clamperl
  • Buizel
  • Finneon
  • Wimpod

Some Trainers may even encounter:

  • Lanturn
  • Feebas (has the chance to be Shiny)
  • Palpitoad
  • Tirtouga (has the chance to be Shiny)

Raids

The Pokémon that will show up in Raids are:

One-Star Raids

  • Shellder (has the chance to be Shiny)
  • Ducklett (has the chance to be Shiny)
  • Curly Form Tatsugiri (Europe, Middle East, Africa)
  • Droopy Form Tatsugiri (Americas)
  • Stretchy Form Tatsugiri (Asia-Pacific)

Three-Star Raids

  • Kingler
  • Gyarados (has the chance to be Shiny)
  • Lapras wearing a scarf (has the chance to be Shiny)
  • Azumarill

Field Research Tasks

Complete Field Research tasks to earn Mega Energy and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.

Paid Timed Research

For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency,) you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research.

Timed Research rewards include:

  • One Rainy Lure Module
  • An event-themed avatar pose
  • Encounters with event-themed Pokémon, including Gyarados, Lapras wearing a scarf, and more

Collection Challenges

Complete catch focused Collection Challenges to receive XP, Stardust, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.

New avatar items will be available to purchase from the in-game shop during this event, and they will continue to be available afterwards:

Water Festival Ultra Ticket Box

The Water Festival Ultra Ticket Box will be available from the Pokémon Go Web Store for US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency.) It includes an event ticket and a Star Piece.
